Affiliate disclosure

Test & Told is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to Amazon. As an Amazon Associate we earn from qualifying purchases.

What that means in plain terms

Most product links on this site carry a tracking code. If you click one and then buy something, Amazon pays us a small percentage of the sale. You pay the same price either way — the commission comes out of the retailer’s margin, not your pocket.

What it changes about our reviews

Nothing about the scores. Specifically:

  • Scores are calculated from weighted criteria, each one drawn from the published measurements we cite on the review. We have not tested these products ourselves, and every review says so. Affiliate links are attached automatically at build time from a product code.
  • We do not check commission rates before deciding rankings, and we do not rank by payout.
  • We do not accept payment for a review, for a particular score, or for a place in a roundup.
  • Where a product is bad, we say so and recommend against it, even though a recommendation would earn more.

Our full methodology and conflict-of-interest policy is on the how we test page.

Where disclosures appear

Every page containing affiliate links carries a disclosure above the first link, not just here. This is a requirement of the US Federal Trade Commission’s endorsement guidelines, and a reasonable one — you should know how a site makes money before you act on its advice, not after.

Prices

We do not publish prices. Amazon pricing changes frequently and their terms only permit displaying prices retrieved live through their Product Advertising API. Every product link sends you to the current listing so you can see the real price.
