Why this site exists
Most product reviews online are a rewritten spec sheet with an affiliate link at the bottom. They are cheap to produce and useless to read, because they never tell you the thing you actually need to know: what is wrong with it, and who should buy something else instead.
Every review here has to name a real flaw and a group of people who should not buy the product. If we could not find either, we had not read enough to have an opinion worth publishing.
Most of what we publish is research rather than our own bench work, and each review says so at the top of its testing section and lists every source it was built from. Where two labs measured the same thing and disagreed, we print both numbers instead of the flattering one.
How we score
Five weighted criteria, scored 0–10, averaged in code. The weights are published on every review, so you can see that a strong value score counted for more than a mediocre build-quality one. We never nudge a final number. The full rubric is here.
How it is funded
Affiliate commission from Amazon, and nothing else. No sponsored posts, no paid placements, no advertising that we control the content of. The trade-off is disclosed on every page that carries a link.
Corrections
If we have got something factually wrong, tell us and we will fix it and note the change on the review. Reviews carry an updated date so you can see when one was last revisited. Contact us here.
